The Popular Vote
You'll hear political pundits talking about the popular vote as it relates to Obama and Clinton. Obama's supporters contend that Obama has won more votes in the primary than Hillary. Hence, he should be the nominee of the party.
Hillary's supporters will contend that including the popular votes of Michigan and Florida into the count, makes her the "popular" favorite.
By reading the media accounts, you'd start to think that everyone is voting in the Democratic Primary. And that the vote totals represent a majority of Americans.
It's important to remember that through all the Democratic Primaries to date approximately 30 million votes have been cast. In the 2004 General Election, more than 121 million votes were cast. Hence, less than 1/4 of the voting American's have even weighed in on their thoughts regarding the Democratic nominees. 75% of the voting population has not been heard from yet.
