Voter ID - Supreme Court Ruling

On Monday, the US Supreme Court ruled as constitutional the voter ID law of Indiana.  The law attempts to reduce voter fraud by requiring each registered voter to produce an ID (drivers license, etc.) before receiving a ballot.

The ACLU and the Democratic Party both brought the lawsuit against the state of Indiana on the theory that the law was disinfranchising Hoosier voters.  Their case was dealt a SERIOUS blow just 48 hours before the Supreme Court hearing.  It was revealed that one of the lead plaintiffs in the case, Faye Buis-Ewing, was registed to vote in both Flordia and Indiana!  Saying these facts took the wind out of the lawsuit's sails would be an understatement.

Ms. Buis-Ewing actions ripped out the sail, tore down the mast and sank the ship.

I have a friend in Southern Illinois, whose father passed away in Chicago in the 1960's. Two years after his death, the father mysteriously switched his voter registration from Republican to Democrat.  Since that time, my friend's deceased father has voted in every primary and general election.

Even though it's now constitutional, don't look for Illinois and Chicago to be passing a voter ID law anytime soon.  Their voters don't photograph too well.
