Reducing Government Oversight - Another success story.

Yesterday's Wall Street Journal had a brief but excellent editorial on the falling price of auto insurance in the state of Massachusetts.  For years, in the interests of the "consumers" the state regulated pricing on auto insurance rates.  In short order, the number of insurance companies offering coverage plummeted.  As  a result rates went up.  In fact, they were some of the highest in the nation.

Last year, Massachusetts decided to step away from regulating the prices and VOILA rates have dropped by more than 15% and companies are opting to once again offer coverage in the state.  Keeping governments hands off the free market system consistenly delivers lower prices for consumers
