Healthcare - what a dream!!
Liberal advocates for nationalized health care realize the dirty little secret of that plan. Nationalized health care will result in a rationing of health resources. This is certainly what has occurred in every other nation, in the world, that has foisted universal coverage on their citizens.
Oh sure, in Canada and England you can get a heart bypass surgery. You just have to wait 4-6 months. In the US, the same procedure is completed within 48 hours of identifying the problem. In fact, Canada and England have an informal policy of allocating surgeries and treatments based upon the age of the patient. A 70 year old with cancer is pushed to the back of the health care line. Younger patients have a priority.
Throughout history, governments have implemented nationalized health care as evidence of their benevolence. Of course, those same governments created private hospitals to care for the "elite" members of their government. Rarely if ever did a politician step inside a "people's hospital" in China, Cuba or the Soviet Union. They had their own, more advanced health facilities.
Even in Illinois, our governor is backing a move to statewide health care coverage. Of course, this is the same Governor that collected campaign donations from firms that were seeking state contracts, and individuals seeking state board petitions.
With nationalized health care, we'll see far fewer individuals opting to become doctors. So a limited supply of care givers, directed by politically driven bureaucrats will create a true logjam of service.
Free health care will still cost money. But your check won't be made out to the hospital. To insure access, you'll likely need to cut a check to a political fund.
Love the title. It does seem to be a dream doesn't it? I am literally scared for my life. I don't want to wait 4-6 months for surgery that I need. I do not support the new health care bill, but unfortunately the plan looks like it will pass. For my own sake and for the sake of my family I aim to get a better job so that I can still afford private health insurance once the plan goes underway. Very scary stuff.
