More oil news

In late Spring the US Geological survey released a report showing more than 4 billion barrels of oil are now recoverable beneath Western North Dakota.  This is the second largest pool ever identified in the United States.
This pool is known as the Bakken formation, located nearly 2 miles beneath the earth's surface.

Well, now another pool has been identified below Bakken.  In fact, a new well in this lower formation is already FLOWING over 1,000 barrels per day.  23 miles away, another new well is coming in at 600 bpd in the same formation.

The formation is known as the Three Forks/Spanish formation. It's very exciting.

But the good news is not without some bad news.  An environmental group is supposedly stepping forward to try to stop this new oil exploration.  Their reason?   They are concerned about the potential damage that the drilling will have to the prairie grass of North Dakota!

Prairie Grass?  The citizens of ND have spent generations trying to control and contain prairie grass. In fact they are looking to turn it into a biofuel to find something useful for it.

Leave it to the environmentalists to once again counfound reason and damage America's efforts to move forward.
