More media influence

Offshore drilling.   The tide of public opinion has changed on the necessity for offshore drilling.  But that doesn't mean the main stream media will give up on their efforts to influence the debate.

Here's the photo from a recent USA Today article on offshore drilling:

Port Fourchon, La. has been home to offshore drilling since the 1970s. About 172 rigs in the Gulf of Mexico produce 79% of the oil and 72% of the natural gas that comes from U.S. coastlines.

WOW!  Now that's close to shore.  But in fact, most offshore platforms will be located so far out in the ocean that they won't be visible from the shoreline.  But why let facts stand in the way of a great photo.
