Pelosi: "I'm trying to save the planet"

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is starting to feel the political heat of American's desire to allow for deep-water drilling.  Yesterday, she was promoting her new book when she was asked about the energy issue.  Her response: "I'm trying to save the planet".

That will be great news to the myriad of working families who are financially stretched by high gasoline prices.  The media has done a nice job of highlighting the suffering caused by high gas prices, but hasn't fully connected the dots.

President Bush announced he was removing the Executive Ban on Deep-water drilling, and oil prices dropped from $145/barrel to $120/ barrel.  And for the first time in recent memory, gas prices actually fell.  Lifting the congressional ban on deep-water drilling would have an even bigger impact.

HERE's THE BIG NEWS - China has recently reopened an old Russian refinery on the island nation of Cuba.  At the same time, they have begun drilling for oil 70 miles from the Cuban shore.  In fact, experts have indicated that horizontal drilling techniques will allow for China to actually pull oil from the same oil formation that lies in US waters.

We are allowing Speaker Pelosi to turn her back on the will of the American public while she serves the interests of China, Cuba and the Arabs.
