Feminists and Sarah Palin

Team Obama is showing their outright fear by their reaction to the Palin nomination.
They have dispatched a team of 30 lawyers into Wasilla, AK to dig up whatever dirt they can on the new darling of the GOP.  Never has so much attention been paid to a VP candidate by the opposing side.  Their attention to Palin is a clear indication that they are worried.

While Obama has a laser focus on Palin, it's the "piling on" of Palin by the feminists that finally shows this group's true colors.

Palin is an accomplished woman, who beat incredible odds to become the governor of a state.  Neither she, nor her husband, had political ties to latch onto.  Her husband doesn't earn a six figure salary.  She is an ordinary Mom, who's done extraordinary things.

Feminists (like N.O.W.) have long touted the ideal that women shouldn't be judged by their marriage, but by their accomplishments.  In an idealized marriage, either spouse could care for the children.  Thus, children would not be a "burden" on women - tying them to the home.  This was what Feminists were supposedly fighting for.

Sarah Palin is a working mother, whose career far outpaces her husband's.  She has many children (including one with special needs), but they didn't constrained her career.  She would presumably be the feminist's ideal.

Except for one thing.  Feminism has now shown itself to be about something other than equal rights for women.

The Feminist's outright assault against Sarah Palin has unmasked their true intent.

You see, Sarah Palin is not a liberal Feminist, and for Feminists that is the only type of feminism allowed.

Sarah Palin, is not liberated (in their view), if she doesn't share their EXACT same political philosophy regarding taxes, socialized medicine, gay marriages, abortion, education and the like.

So, Feminism is not about lifting women up.  (We've certainly seen them try to tear down Sarah Palin).  It's about promoting a liberal agenda, at all costs, even if women of distinction have to be destroyed in the process.

This is shown is spades when you compare how McCain was treated on "the view" verses how they treated Hessian with kid gloves

You forget the overall mentality of liberals and the Democratic party. They believe they have a monopoly on all women votes, Hispanic votes, African-American votes, and the young votes. They believe that all the Republicans have is the old, crusty, rich white dude votes. Any deviation from their self-proclaimed demographics is unacceptable and invites a visceral reaction of insults and tirades (see Palin news coverage).
