In Case you Missed it.....
Hawaii is considered a "paradise" for any number of reasons. It boasts a perfect climate and tropical beaches. Hawaii generates incredible real estate and property tax revenue from the high tourism traffic emanating from both Asia and America.

It's also a Democratic Paradise. The Democrats have controlled the legislature for decades. And it was only in 2007, that the first Republican Governor since 1962 took office.
The State Senate is controlled by Democrats (21-4). Ditto for the State Legislature (44-7). In addition to the high real estate and property tax revenue, the Hawaii government generates great income tax revenue. The highest income tax rate for the state is 8.5%. And, that's for any income over $40.000!!! The effective Federal tax rate on incomes of $40,000 is actually less than the state income tax rate in Hawaii! That's pretty incredible.
So with their coffers filled with tremendous amounts of tax dollars, Democratic Hawaii was the first state in the nation to pass Universal Health Care for children. It was passed in 2007 and signed by a compliant governor.
The program is similar to a proposal by Barack Obama.
In case you missed it.......just last week, the program was scrapped. The government found that the program was wildly expensive. More to the point, they found that children, already covered by private insurance, were being placed in the program - overburdening the system.
It's a perfect warning of the Universal Health Care being proposed by the Democrats. Every time Democrats are asked for an example of a system of Universal Health Care that works, they change the topic. The Canadian system is an unmitigated disaster. England's system is on the verge of breakdown. And now the Hawaii experiment has been shut down.
But just trust the Democrats. Health care, in their mind, is a right (although oddly that's not mentioned in the constitution). It's important to remember, that the Democrats also thought home ownership was a right. They set up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to deliver that "right" to all. That delivery system for home ownership worked out about as well as Hawaii's Universal Health Care.

Great post Bob! Every person that is considering voting for Obama should read this.

Agreed. Great post. After I heard this story last week, I caught a correspondent for NPR interviewing a 'child advocate' and she said "this is the best case we can make for needing a Federal universal system. State's can't do this." Seriously? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Apparently if a bloated entitlement social engineering experiment doesn't work on a 1:50 scale, you go ahead and do the whole shabang; that should shore things right up… seriously.

I would guess that the parents of the children covered by "private" insurance found the Universal Health Care to provide the same or better benefits at a reduced cost.
Politicians speak of the "uninsured" but why are so many uninsured? Do they not qualify for Medicaid coverage and simply feel that they cannot "afford" other coverage provided by an employer and will not take responsibility to find themselves coverage? It is one thing to have a genuine health ailment that you have no control over and are thus denied coverage and quite another to simply say "it is too expensive".
