One of the greatest joys of creating the Republican Reporter has been the number of people that I've met as a result. Often, I'll get a short note from someone with a suggestion or idea for the blog. I'm grateful for the input. Also, I appreciate the comments posted on the blog, which offer another (and often times better) perspective on the topic of the day.
Brian Millville, a local history student, often sends me insightful emails with his thoughts and ideas. Frankly, his work is too good not to share. Hence, today, I"m offering Brian's perspective on a possible Obama presidency. He's done a masterful job. I hope you'll take the time to read his well researched piece.
If Obama is elected…by Brian T. Milleville
An Obama presidency would leave this country irrevocably changed, and not in a good way. First and foremost Obama’s tax plan, or as I like to call it – “Operation Soup Line” – would be detrimental to an already horrible economy. Obama claims that he will cut taxes on 95% of Americans….right, now it’s 95% of working Americans. See how in less than a month Obama has changed his tax plan to include less Americans? If he’s already changing his tax plan, who is to say that the $250,000 + threshold won’t change also?!
The problem lies within Obama’s logic about tax increases. He assumes that higher taxes would equal more government revenue. Most economists already know that this logic is seriously and fatally flawed. Note to Obama: In the real world called reality, tax cuts equal more revenue! For instance, take a look at these 3 charts from the Heritage Foundation:

Raising taxes on the “rich”, who foot most of the tax burden now and who provide most of our jobs, would send this already dismal recession economy into a full-blown depression. Business owners will move their shops to other countries, people will lose their jobs, and “Operation Soup Line” will be complete as a liberal’s utopia of a welfare state will be born. We’ll have government health care, retirement (Part 2 of my rant coming soon), and a massive increase in 176 other government programs. And I didn’t even mention the increase in capital gains tax…
Obama’s logic of increasing tax revenue is an attempt to cover the “4.3 trillion in increased spending and reduced tax revenue”!!!!

Well done. I only wish I had been that aware when I was so young. I'm guessing Master Milleville should be teaching his class, not sitting in it. I foresee a tough road for him to hoe in "higher" …ehh-hmmm [clears throat] education. Although Brian might be OK if he steers clear of the political science department.
