A Republican Reporter Exclusive

I just got off the phone with a political friend, well connected in DC.

The news for Card-Check is not just bad - it is horrific.

The Democrats intend to introduce and pass Card Check legislation on the first day of the new Congress.  And the Senate will do as well.  Holding out hope for a fillibuster in the Senate, now that the Dems lack the necessary 60 votes to override, is misplaced.

There are two moderate Republicans that are likely to cross over and vote for Card Check.  Senator Arlen Spector, who is up for reelection in two years, is trying to curry favor with the union base, and intends to vote for the measure.

Obama intends to sign the legislation immediately.

I'm predicting that the next battle line will be a Supreme Court challenge.  But I'm becoming less and less optimistic all the time.

I'll be leaving tomorrow for a one-week trip.  As a result, my blogging will be rather eratic.  Even though I won't be posting for a few days, I hope you'll take the time to come back and visit after my return.

Thanks!
