Patti Blagojevich - a unique victim
Think of the most recent political scandals that have emerged in recent years.......
Here's NJ Gov. Jim McGreevey addressing the breaking news that he was having a homosexual relationship with a former aid. McGreevey later resigned.
Here's Idaho Senator Larry Craig, addressing the bathroom antics for which he was arrested.
Here's Illinois Governor George Ryan during his corruption charges, for which he is currently serving jail time.
And this is NY Governor Elliot Spitzer addressing the press following the revelations of his dalliances with a prostitute.
Accused politicians, and their attorneys, often use the spouse of the accused as the "innocent victim" of the charges. The presence of the spouse helps "soften" the image, and make the politician seem more human.
However, it would appear that Gov. Blagojevich's image may not be "softened" by his spouse, but only damaged even further.
The first lady of Illinois, Patti Blagojevich was caught on the government tap of the Governor's home speaking with her husband's advisers. She offered advice and input on how the governor could leverage his position to financially benefit the couple. Patti also weighed in on the Cubs financing proposal.
And like the Governor, Patti's use of the english language was fairly.........uh.......colorful. She dropped multiple "F" bombs in her conversations.
Hence, she can't soften her husband's image. On any stage, her presence is only a further reminder of the harshness of this linguistically (and ethically) challenged political couple.
My girlfriend put it best about Blago and his wife..."they're like Bonnie and Clyde".
