A shocking study that you won't read much about....

"Conservatives are heartless and cruel."

This is the common adage that we hear from liberal politicians and the media (as if there is a difference).  In fact, this is such a common belief that George Bush's "Compassionate Conservative" theme of his 2000 presidential campaign was seen as revolutionary, in that he was attempting to put a softer face on the image of Republicans and Conservatives.

Hence, the article in today's New York Times is shocking!

Arthur Brook's recent book, "Who Really Cares" highlights the disparity in charitable giving.   In his research, he found that conservatives gave 30% more to charity  than liberals did.  Furthering the point, a study out of Georgia showed that conservatives might give as much as twice as much as liberals, when it comes to charity!

When Brooks started in on his book he assumed the opposite was true:

When I started doing research on charity,” Mr. Brooks wrote, “I expected to find that political liberals — who, I believed, genuinely cared more about others than conservatives did — would turn out to be the most privately charitable people. So when my early findings led me to the opposite conclusion, I assumed I had made some sort of technical error. I re-ran analysis. I got new data. Nothing worked. In the end, I had no option but to change my views.”

Pretty interesting.........Liberals see the Government as your only hope for assistance, because they certainly wouldn't expect themselves to offer it.
