Stop playing to the stereotypes!

Donna Brazille was the Campaign Manager for Al Gore's failed 2000 Presidential Bid.
Yesterday, she appeared on ABC News immediately after the innaugural ceremonies, where she discussed having stolen Barack Obama's blanket.  (Everyone one the stage recevied a blanket to ward off the cold.  Obama's got left behind and Donna snagged it.)

What's fascinating about the video (click on the fuzzy photo above to see it) is that after Brazille admits to taking it, the commentator says, "We're going to check with the legal staff to see if  that's a felony or a misdemeanor."

Brazille responds, "We have a Black President.  It's neither.  This (pointing to the blanket) is free."

Shocking!  While she later attempted to recharacterize her comments.  Her off the cuff remarks were ugly and unseemly.  They harken back to a stereotype that does not do credit to the black race or the accomplishments of Barack Obama.  And it certainly doesn't live up to the ideals of leaving racism behind.
