Welcome Gov. Quinn
Illinois has a new governor! Pat Quinn has always been an outsider within his own Democratic party, and sometimes comes up with rather goofy ideas. He'll probably govern in the style of California's own Jerry Brown. Of greater concern was his speech last night in which he was quoting from Che Guevara!
Economic Stimulus
As the details of Obama's economic stimulus package are beginning to emerge, it's apparent that the program is nothing more than a pork ladened payoff to Democratic supporters. Here's a sample:
$50 million for National Endowment of the Arts
$400 million for global warming research
$335 million for STD (that's Sexually transmitted Disease) prevention
$4.1 BILLION for neighborhood activists groups like ACORN.
(Remember our President is a former community organizer. He does have his soft spots.)
I think about places like Central Illinois and the plains of Kansas. ACORN doesn't spend any money in those areas. Ditto for the National Endowment for the Arts. And I'm pretty sure that global warming and STD research dollars won't be spent in our area as well.
The stimulus plan is supposed to free up lending from banks, thus spurring on the economy. Can you only imagine the loan committee meetings now, "Well, I'm really concerned about how Joe's auto parts factory is going to keep it's doors open. But, with the new research in global warming and STDs, his business is bound to turn around. Let's make the loan!"
Of course that won't happen. It's only when the Obama administration gets serious about recovery, and coming up with pork-free solutions that the business community will believe the economy is moving forward. Until then, their apt to simply "hunker down" and endure the left wing ads run by ACORN, paid for with their own personal and corporate income tax dollars.
The size of this stimulus is $819 Billion. In case your interested, that's $2,700 of tax dollars for every man, woman and child in the United States to help pay for this debacle of left wing thinking.

The elected demicrats are not concerned about the economy. They know that in time the economy will rebound. Therefore, why help with tax cuts to the people they are supposed to represent. Dems will pass the typical legislation and in a year or two we will still have an economy.
Oh, Why didn't the republicans give out payroll tax reductions a last year. Just maybe they know the economy will still be there at the end of this.
