Late Breaking News......

On Monday, Roland Burris admitted that he had spoken with several members of the Blagojevich Administration (including Rob Blagojevich, the Gov's brother) in an attempt to secure his Senate seat.  This is a contradiction to his sworn affidavits and testimony before a IL House Impeachment Committee in January.

Last night, Burris admitted to reporters that he had, in fact, attempted to raise funds for Governor Blagojevich just prior to being named to the Senate Seat.  This flies directly in the face of all sworn and public statements that he had previously made.

Sen. Roland Burris is toast.  He is certainly going to face perjury charges by the IL House and State and Federal Prosecutors.

Why did he come forward now?  Well, it's just been revealed that Governor Rod Blagojevich's brother, Rob, was also being wiretapped.  Once that news was made public, Burris realized his many conversations with Rob would eventually be known.

A Burris resignation or removal would allow Governor Pat Quinn to appoint a replacement.  Of course, when he was merely a Lt. Governor, Pat Quinn stated that a special election should be held for the Senate Seat, rather than an appointement.  Let's see if breathing the air in the governor's mansion has changed Gov. Quinn's opinion.
