In the movie, "The Ten Commandments", Yul Brenner played the character of Ramses II, a long serving pharaoh of Egypt.  In the epic film, Brenner's character would often state, "So shall it be written.  So shall it be done."  The phrase, delivered in Brenner's rich baritone, denoted the power that Ramses felt each of his declarations imparted.  Like Ramses II, Obama seems to believe he can now ease the economic downturn, simply by stating it to be so.

Ramses II died a natural death.  But the great Egyptian empire that he commanded fell shortly after his departure.  Hopefully, Obama will learn from Ramses II that words alone cannot undo the damage of bad policy and poor decision making.

When possible, I attempt to provide a little lighter material for my Friday submission. The proposed Employee Free Choice Act seems to be offering all the humorous material I might need.

Some TRUE stories from the field regarding the Card-Check legislation:

Story 1
A business owner was debating the Card-Check issue with a Union boss.  The Union head was advocating the establishment of a union as long as 50% of the employees signed cards.  The business owners countered, "Great.  Then to make it fair, what if a union could be decertified by 50% of the employees signing cards stating they no longer want a union?"
The Union boss responded, "Well that would open the process up to INTIMIDATION!"

...........So intimidation can only go one way?

Story 2
A congressman's aide was meeting with union members to discuss the Employee Free Choice Act.  In the course of the discussion, the aide brought up the concern about intimidation of workers if a secret ballot election was eliminated.  One of the union guys was so angry about the charge, that he came across the table, at the aide, in a very intimidating manner, claiming that this would never happen.  The other union guys had to pull him off and looked extremely embarrassed.

File this under - "You better believe we'll stop using intimidation tactics, once you vote for this bill.......OR ELSE!"

Enjoy your weekend!
