Holy Thursday

In the Christian faith, today is known as Holy Thursday.  It's a day I look forward to for the entire year.  Why?  Because everyone I see today, I always say, "Hey..............have a GOOD FRIDAY". (Good Friday being the title for the Friday before Easter.)

I would tell my children it's a "cerebral joke".  My daughter said, "If 'cerebral' means 'stupid', then I agree!".  (Okay, my daughter didn't actually say that.  It's actually a line from an episode of "Cheers' that I just wanted to use.)  Be sure to tell everyone you see today to "have a Good Friday".

Detroit
It came out in yesterday's news that Detroit has more registered voters than actual citizens.    While many people are laughing over the ineptitude, it's an alarming trend.  My good friend is originally from Egypt.  While Egypt was once a fledgling democracy, the elections became so corrupt and contrived that people simply stopped participating.  Today, Egypt has some of the lowest turnouts for elections because they've so conditioned the populace that their vote no longer matters.  Egypt wasn't always that way.  They started at a point where the US is today.  Will we have the courage to say, "ENOUGH!"?

Effingham Tea Party

The organizers for the Effingham Tax Protesters Tea Party (April 15th - 6pm - Effingham Beach) are doing a terrific job.  The event has now been registered with the national tax TEA Party protest.  If you want to see an impressive map, click HERE to see where all the events are being held on April 15th.  And, Yes, Effingham's is on there.   You'll be amazed at the map

In a related note, on my drive to work this morning, I heard Congressman Jack Spratt (Democratic head of the Congressional Budget Committee) on the radio, talking about how wonderful the new budget is.  We will incur a $1.3 Billion Deficit in just this year, alone.  Rep. Spratt excitedly talked about how they would be lowering the deficit to ONLY $500 billion by 2013!  This is really becoming outrageous.

Try going into your banker and telling them, "Listen, we spent 50% more money than we earned this year.  But, we are excited, because with our new budgeting, we are going to only spend 25% more than we earn within the next 4 years."  Not only would the banker kick you out of his office, he'd probably take back the free pen, as well!

With China as our bankers, it's only a question of when they might take back their pen.

I guess ACORN was too effective in Detroit? Indianapolis has the same problem. The Franklin/Coleman race is also plagued by too many people that actually VOTED compared to those that are actually REGISTERED in some districts. Heck, I wish we could get that kind of turnout here in downstate Illinois - we might be able to kick those ChiDems out of Springfield long enough to get something done and get this state back on its feet.
