Tax Day Update
A quick update:
I was driving past the post office in Effingham today and was stunned when I saw this:

A group of area citizens holding a variety of signs which read:
"Give me liberty, not debt"
"Honk if I'm paying your mortgage"
"Audit the Fed"
This is a dangerous trend........if you're an elected official. This group was not organized by a national organization or a local political party. They are simply angry voters who've decided they've had enough.
Based on the response they were receiving, they are not alone. I don't ever think I've been this happy on April 15th!
(Sorry for the quality of photos. I had no idea how bad my cell phone camera is.)
ANOTHER UPDATE
I've been involved in politics in Effingham County for the past 20 years. Through that time, I've gotten to know most of the Republican and many of the Democrat Party faithful. I didn't recognize one face in the group of protesters.
If you're an elected official.......be afraid....be very afraid.
I'll try to provide photos and video of the 6 pm protest. And 'yes", I'll bring a better camera.
just returned to the office from the tea party here on the capitol steps in madison, wi. the signs were a hoot - never realized that there were so many creative people. good speakers - turnout of about 5K

Some of us couldn't make it to the TEA party out at the lake, so we made our own. And no, we were not organized, just TEA'd off!

I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I'm the guy with the sign that says "Why pay taxes when you can print money".
In addition to Jason's comment, we also wanted to get together and do this is because we thought that a meeting out at the lake would gather little public attention, and we wanted our voices to be heard.
"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion."

I'm the one holding "HONK If I'm Paying Your Mortgage".
Other signs read:
"Give Me Liberty Not Debt"
"Can We Bankrupt the Country? YES WE CAN"
"220 Years To Build A Republic, 3 Months to Destroy It"
"Down$ize D.C."
"Taxed Enough Already"

I can't make it to the STL TEA party, so I'm looking forward to pictures of the Effingham one! And hoping our local one gets some media coverage.

I am the one in the middle behind the No Parking sign. I came from Mattoon, IL. I could not attend the TEA party this evening due to Bible study where I am a minister, so I was glad to be able to join this group this afternoon.

Glad we could make your day! It felt great to take action against our globalist masters! On to bigger and better demonstrations, exercise those liberty muscles, wake up the slumbering. It's not a fight of Left vs. Right, it's Liberty vs. Tyranny! We're in the fight of our lives, let's rise to the occasion and prove ourselves worthy of our ancestors. I'm going in, through and beyond, committed to the death to defend Liberty and the Christian Faith. My rights are God-given and in-a-lien-able. Nobody can place a lien on them. I'll not be silenced nor will I be moved.

Hi all. I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it.

Hi,
Mortgage rates are still near historic lows yet hardly any applicants actually qualify for those rates due to a variety of additional points and fees that we’ve covered in this space before. This effect is masked, to some extent, by the fact that these additional costs are generally NOT mentioned in the weekly report of average mortgage rates issued every Thursday by Freddie Mac. Those rates — as low as 4.48 percent in the last report for a 15-year fixed mortgage — generally show just the core rate and not the various adders. So you can have great credit and qualify for that 4.48 rate, but actually GETTING it is something else altogether.

Why don't high asset people just close their business as a protest until the govt lowers taxes? Kinda like "Atlas Shrugged"?

That is well known that cash can make us independent. But what to do when one has no money? The only one way is to receive the mortgage loans and collateral loan.
