"This is not what we want to talk about!"
Leading Democrats and the media attempted to suppress the message of last weeks tea party protests, in three different ways:
1. Ridicule - Many media outlets spent their "coverage" time simply laughing at, or making fun of the protests.
2. Lying about the creators - Democrats and Media types intentionally lied about who was behind the creation of the protests. They wanted America to believe that the"Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" had once again emerged. In fact, most of the protests were grass roots movements, organized at a local level.
3. Lying about the intentions - Same group as above were intent on defining the message of the protest. The detractors want the public to believe that these protests were simply "Anti-Obama" rallies, when, in reality, the events were about protesting the "greed of power" that seems to drive the government. The protests were sparked by the fear that we are quickly moving to a central-planning type of government that worked so poorly for every other nation that's attempted it.
The networks have even gone so far as sanitizing their own coverage of the news:
Scrubbed! CNN yanking tea party 'embarrassment'
Demands YouTube remove video of fed-up citizens berating reporter
(thanks to John B. for this link)
While the detractors did their best to undermine the impressive results, the message of smaller government continues to reverberate. Already Tea Party Protests are being planned the July 4th weekend.
What those in power want to avoid, is any conversation on the "greed for power". Unfortunately, for them it looks like the story and the outrage won't die:
Senator's husband cashes in on crisis; Feinstein sought $25 billion for agency that awarded contract to spouse
Pelosi, other Dem leaders pressure members to oppose ethics measure
Bob:
Not all Democrats are bad politicians. There are some who have conservative views and not the liberal take on what a Democrat should be. I am a Democrat and I went to three organized parties including the one at Lake Sara. I have a question for you since you are a staunch GOP. In the course of life in the U.S. do think the Democrats have been the total downfall of not only our economy but also the U.S as a whole? Do you believe that Republican have contributed to the downfall of our nation as well as other political parties? I like to read your articles but I believe you would be better suited and that your conservative message to be a little more even keeled and not place total blame on democrats. Both parties have offered deplorable policies and actions that make me angst over our current political process.

Jeff,
I agree that the Republicans are as much to blame for our current problems, as are the Democrats. I'm increasingly angry over the way in which Republican squandered the opportunity to make government fiscally responsible, when they were in power.
I attempt, when writing on the blog, to speak about "leading Democrats", meaning Reid, Kennedy and Pelosi. I know that they don't represent the views of local Democrats (particularly those in Central Illinois). However, they are setting the national agenda. And they are defining the party's stance on issues like "Card Check", Expanded Government Spending, etc.
It's only when we start calling our representatives to let them know that we don't agree with their positions (particularly ones from our own party), that we can have the biggest impact on government. (I've already called my congressman and expressed my outrage over some votes that he's taken.)

For someone who says he agrees Republicans are also to blame, it is ironic that you never post anything regarding that. You simply blame Democrats. You list Democratic Governors that have gone to jail, but say nothing about former Republican Governor Ryan. It also appears you take what anyone tells you as the truth, if it fits your agenda, such as the River to River story. This site is not much different than listening to Rush.
