Father's Day
For something completely different, I'm going to share some great gift ideas for the Father in your life.
These are some items that I've received as gifts - that I really, really love.
Here goes:
Shaving Oil
This little bottle (less than an ounce) can be used in place of shaving cream. The bottle is so small because it only takes about 3-4 drops of the liquid to provide a very clean, smooth shave. This is perfect for someone that travels, because it's in such a small container. But frankly, I use it everyday. ($3 - $5 - Walmart, Walgreens)
Flip Fold
Most of my family and friends could predict that this would make my list of favorite gifts, because I've given several away as gifts. When it comes to organization, I'm not anal retentive, but I aspire to be. This tool has helped considerably on my journey.
The flip fold is a clothes folding board. Occasionally found at Walgreens, but otherwise online, the Flip Fold folding board folds every shirt, t-shirt, etc. in the same rectangular position. Have you ever admired the displays of carefully folded shirts in your favorite clothing store? They are likely using one of these boards. Not only does it makes your closets and drawers look great, you'll find you have more room for packing as well.
($10 - $15)
MicroTrim Razor
These are the little razors that are advertised on TV. If you don't have one of these in your life, you are missing out. As I've aged (gracefully), I've got hair growing in all sorts of new places. The cutting guard is particularly helpful for trimming my eyebrows. Frankly here's a guy that could use one.

($2-$3 Walmart, Walgreens)
Brondell
Okay, this one is not as inexpensive, but it's an incredible creature comfort. Brondell is a firm whose product can turn your ordinary toilet stool into a bidet. In Europe and Japan, the bidet is a common bathroom fixture that looks like this.
Without going into great detail, it's function is to clean your bottom. For whatever reason, the US has not embraced the bidet. (My thought: WE ARE IDIOTS!) Most American bathrooms don't have the floor space for a bidet. Brondell solved that problem by creating a unit that simply replaces the toilet seat with a functioning bidet. In addiition to being a bidet, the Brondell unit offers some other great features:
1. Heated Seat - Go ahead and laugh. But the next cold winter day that you sit on your toilet, just think about all those Brondell customers that are laughing at you!
2. Night light - It was only after it was installed that I realized it had a night light on the side. In my sleep-coma, late at night, I'm grateful for the "runway like" approach that it offers.
3. Slow closing seat - Another feature, I didn't appreciate until later. However, if your spouse asks preferrs demands that the seat be put down after every use, this feature allows you do so with a simple touch of the finger. Again, it's only after you try it that you appreciate the function.
These are priced near the $400 mark - but everyone that has one, swears by it. It's like a Disneyland ride without the long lines.
There you have it. My list of great Dad gifts. Feel free to use the comments suggestions to offer your ideas.
Bob - good luck with your Fathers Day wish list. I asked for a chain saw for Mothers Day but didn't get it. Where's the justice in that?
