.....now for something completely different.

My daughter is making a journey to Chicago with her maternal grandmother today.  A traveling companion showed up at the train station this morning with flu-like symptoms........headache, stomach ache, etc.

Several years ago, I was driving, by myself, on a rather long business trip.  Not even half way into the journey, I started feeling ill.  I'd once heard that chicken noodle soup is a cure-all for a host of stomach and other ailments.  I stopped at the next truck stop (nearly every truck stop has chicken noodle soup) and picked up a cup to go.  Slowly sipping the soup as I drove, I noticed that within 20-30 minutes I was feeling better.   In fact, I've used this remedy several times since then.

So, this morning, as soon as the young traveler complained about her symptoms, I hightailed it to the local grocery store-deli and secured a large bowl of chicken noodle soup for her.  Returning to the train platform (the train was thankfully late) I gave the young girl the soup and explained about the incredible curative properties of sipping the soup.  She seemed less than persuaded.

Thankfully, right before she boarded the train, another gentlemen came up to her and said, "I couldn't help but overhearing your friend encouraging you to drink the chicken noodle soup.  I was a truck driver for more than 20 years.  In that time, I would become ill, while driving.  I too, would stop and get chicken noodle soup and it always worked.  My friends used it as well.  So please, make sure to try it."

Wow!  What an endorsement!
