Cap' & Trade and Healthcare
I'm reading that the Cap' & Trade bill passed by the House has gotten so much "blowback" from voters that the Senate has decided to "park" the bill. ie. it won't be voted on.
The administration, having learned it's lesson, is now proposing to RAM the healthcare bill down our throats even faster. The 1,000 page bill will fly out of the Senate and be whisked over to Nancy Pelosi's house. If this legislation passes there is an ironic twist.
Under the proposed legislation, Medicare will be placed into the new government program. So, Senior Citizens, who have come to rely on unfettered (and virtually free) access to health care will suddenly find that they will be placed into a rationed system. It will be devastating to many, as their access will be limited, and based upon factors like age, disease, and likelihood of outcome.
AARP, long the protectors of senior health care interests, are joining forces with the Administration in supporting the proposed legislation. The Obama minions have carefully crafted the proposals so that organizations like AARP can grow in size and scope. As a result, AARP is willing to throw their constituency "under the bus" to get their "piece of the pie".
The only question is whether Senior Citizens will express their outrage before the legislation is passed.

If the definition of a "captive" regulator is an agency who ingratiates itself to the industry it was supposed to regulate, could we coin the new term 'captive' lobbyist for AARP's actions?
