Here's a thought.....
Next week Obama intends to address every student in America. He will also speak to a nationwide audience in his appearance before a joint session of Congress.
For a CHANGE, maybe it's time he started LISTENING.......
For a CHANGE, maybe it's time he started LISTENING.......
He is listening. He is listening to what the voters told him in Nov. He carried 192 more electoral votes, & he carried 52.9% of the popular vote. Those people voted for a change from the status quo. People that have a very narrow minded view, of only seeing what benefits them, or their political party, don't seem to understand that. Look beyond which party stands to receive credit, & do what is best for the country.

I have been following this blog since inception. Other than the local or a state candidates for political office, I dont think Mr. Schultz would vote for other than Republican party Candidates. I think he is a hard liner that only will vote based on political ideology. I might be wrong and hope that I am being wrong. I read where Newt Gingrich may consider a run for 2012. I wonder if there was an election between Newt and Evan Bayh in a Presidetnial election, Who would Mr. Schultz vote for? We have Bayh who is a moderate Democrat who is pro business and beleives in a lean operation of governments. Then we have good ol Newt, who was pushing for a Clinton impeachment and declaring the republicans were the party of reform, who was having an affair outside the reigns of his marriage. Quite the reformer wasn't he! I would be interested to know who he would vote for?
Thank You.

Okay, I'll bite.
First of all, to Mr. Zimmer - For the 52.9% of the American voters who chose Mr. Obama, what aspects of his health care plan do they now support?
The polls are certainly showing that Americans are not in favor of what Congress has proposed. But what elements do you believe Obama's electoral supporters now wish he could get passed regarding health care?
Mr. Giles - First of all, thanks for reading (even if you might disagree with some of my posts). This might shock you, but in the 2008 election, I contributed to and attended a fundraiser for a Democratic candidate. I can't recall an election in which I haven't voted for at least one Democratic Candidate.
As for your question of Newt vs. Bayh, it's a fair one. Beyond the impeachment, I credit Newt with having successfully encapsulated many key issues in his "contract with America" that provided Americans a referendum on many key issues. If Presidential Candidate Bayh pledged to serve his presidential term as he did his gubernatorial term in Indiana, I would be hard pressed to not support him.
In the interest of full disclosure, long after I was a fan of Senator Bayh, I had the chance to spend an hour in a one-on-one conversation with his father, Senator Birch Bayh. He was a strong liberal during his term in Washington, and I disagreed with many of his positions. But this Republican Reporter had a delightful afternoon hearing Senator Bayh's stories, including the tale of his plane crash in which he was credited with saving Senator Ted Kennedy.
See, I'm not an evil politico. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to converse with individuals with opposing viewpoints. It's from that exchange that many ideas of merit can emerge.
Thanks for reading...and writing.

Most people do want a change in our unhealthcare system. Whether people support it or not, I hope they make that decision based on facts, & not on misinformation, shouting, & outright lies. I've included a link to factcheck.org It is in response to an email that I'm sure many have received. It had 48 points about H.R. 3200. The Healthcare bill. Factcheck.org goes on to say about the email, that 26 of the claims in the email are false, the rest mostly misleading, & only four are true. http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/twenty-six-lies-about-hr-3200/

Charlie,
Thanks so much. I agree that we need new ideas for the health care problem. And the debate has turned into yet another example of "gotcha" politics.
I really love the idea of trying these systems out on a state-by-state basis. We can truly measure the impact of various programs and their success.
Thanks,
