Chicago School Violence - Why they are avoiding the solution.

Last week, America's Attorney General and Secretary of Education flew into Chicago to address the excessive amount of school violence occurring on the streets of the President's home town (also the home town of the AG and Sec. of Education).

They were joined by leading Chicago figures, including Jesse Jackson (please forget that it was Jesse that railed against the discipline taken against students in Decatur, Illinois, several years ago, who started a "mob-type" fight in the stands of a football game.)

The group was ADAMANT that something must be done.  After all, yet another honor student was beaten to death on the streets of Chicago.  This beating, captured on video, highlighted an epidemic-like problem for the Chicago public school system.

The most recent death clearly points to the solution, but sadly, it's not one that Chicago leaders (and for that matter Washington Leaders) have the courage to enact.  It's called SCHOOL CHOICE.

Responsible parents long for school choice in Chicago.   School Choice allows parents of exceptional children the ability to place their children into schools that are safe environments of discipline and learning.  But Chicago leaders, beholden to teacher's unions, won't dare endorse an idea that would provide responsible parents an outlet.

Of course the teacher's union doesn't endorse violence.  But school choice would allow responsible parents to remove their children from unsafe schools and/or inadequate teachers.  And there's the rub.

School choice would allow responsible parents a choice in finding exceptional teachers.  And that is something the unions can't accept. After all, if all the students would leave a school with bad teachers, where would those teachers be employed?  And where would irresponsible parents and their kids find education?  EXACTLY!!
Poor teachers shouldn't be employed as teachers, and irresponsible children and their parents shouldn't be able to drag down those that are responsible.  But the union and their political protectors don't have the courage to address that.

In the meantime, countless young lives will continue to be lost to the inept educational system that is Chicago.  Responsible parents and studnets will continue to be punished, because education and political leaders won't take responsibility.

Rewarding Irresponsibility by Punishing the Responsible.

I call them rippers (RIPRs).  And they are tearing apart the fabric of this nation.
