Cap' and Trade
(With apologies to a good friend, I offer this tongue-in-cheek submission)
Under Cap' and Trade, the US Government will now impose a penalty on those companies that create excessive carbon.
Imagine an industry that consumes thousands of acres of forest each year to create their product. Processing the product burns even more carbon. Finally, the product is delivered on a daily basis to nearly every home in America with thousands of vehicles burning untold amounts of gas to effect the delivery. Then, the product is "stale" after only one day, whether it's used or not. Even if it's recycled (and that's not often the case) transportation and recycling wastes even more fossil fuels.
And here's the rub..............technology exists to create and produce the same product while using less than 1% of the natural resources utilized under the traditional (and widespread) method.
It sounds to me like we should impose heavy taxes on a product with such a heavy carbon footprint.
What is it? Newspapers!!
I wonder if that idea would change any editorials on the topic of Cap' and Trade?

But rather than impose fines or additional taxes, Queen Pelosi wants a bailout for the San Francisco paper. Seems to me that if people no longer wish to buy a product, that product should die out..just as typewriters did.
