While the Dems held out hope for this, it's increasingly clear that the Republicans will win big.
NJ Governors Race - Governor Corzine has ruled over an incredibly corrupt state with high taxes and unemployment. Obama has visited the state numerous times to bolster the governor's reelection bid. A third party candidate entered the race and has split the Republican vote. If Corzine ekes out a victory, he'll likely only get 43% of the vote. His reelection, if it occurs, will hardly be an ringing endorsement of the Democratic party ideals.
NY 23 - Special Election for a congressional seat. Although previously held by a Republican, the district voted strongly for Obama in 2008. Democrats wanted to use this race as a referendum on Obama. As the polls are indicating the Democrat will likely lose this race, Democrats are now suggesting that this election has nothing to do with Obama.
All-in-all, it should be a fairly entertaining evening. I'll enjoy watching the commentators who gleefully predicted the Republican demise less than a year ago.
