You've read before (at least here) of the amazing oil discoveries going on in North Dakota around two oil formations; the Bakken formation and the Sanish-Three Forks formation. New drilling technologies allow for the recovery of oil, and there's lots of it there, from these areas. Now comes news of new drilling techniques allowing for the recovery of more than 2 Billion barrels of oil in Canada. This is in addition to the MAJOR discovery announced by BP this fall. Their Tiber well in the Gulf of Mexico is producing more than 400,000 barrels of oil a day. The location is estimated to have more than 3 Billion barrels of oil.

.......NOT! Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" built the case for Global Warming based on science. In particular, Nobel Prize Winner Gore highlighted the Melting Himalayas (great name for a rock band). He cited the scientific report from the UN which predicted the melting of the glaciers in the next 30 years that would cause elevated river levels, for a time, then long term drought.
With the whole Climategate fiasco going on, reporters (UK, not US) have dug into the report on the Himalayas and found that (Surprise) there is no corroborating evidence to support this theory, or "Inconvenient Truth". In fact, it appears the whole thing might have started with one interview with a left wing scientist who simply proposed the theory. The offhand remark was spun by a compliant media, and former VP, into a "Truth" - and we have a Nobel Prize! (Obama is happy about the news, as this makes his Nobel Peace Prize look much more legitimate.)

The truth behind the issue of Global Warming should be resolved as soon as possible. Millions of dollars have been wasted for the debate alone and stdies conducted to resolve the issue alone. Imagine the waste!
