Brady update
The vote count for the Republican primary for Governor was close. Very close.
With all the votes in, it looks like Brady won with a 400 vote margin.
Late yesterday, opponent McKenna, who came in third, behind Brady and Dillard, indicated that he believes Brady has won.
Then former Governor Jim Edgar, a Dillard supporter, also indicated that he believed Brady was the winner. That is huge.
Dillard is having a press conference at 1 pm today to announce his intentions. The Edgar announcement puts pressure on him.
Here's my prediction: Dillard is going to request that a dozen different precincts conduct a sampling survey, ie. recount the ballots and see how they match up to the posted totals. If there is a big difference, then he will likely ask for a full recount - a rather expensive proposition, that he has to fund.
This will likely take another 10 days before it's resolved. But at this point, given all the great info coming out on the Democratic nominee for Lt. Gov. (and there's even more since I posted yesterday!!) , the Republicans best strategy is to simply let the Democrats have the headlines for the next few weeks.
