Obama overseas
We were told that an Obama presidency would mean the end of bad feelings towards the United States from our foreign brethren.

The float depicted Obama as a fallen angel (note the halo and wings). Obama's shirt reads, "Obama Der ErLoser". ERLOSER doesn't mean what you think. "Erloser" is the German word for "liberator" or "redeemer". The fact that it looks so much like the word "loser" is just a happy coincidence.
That old reliable US media doesn't seem to take as much notice of the ridicule Obama is suffering overseas. Apparently it was only important when Bush was in the White House.

Health Care - A little noticed provision
As part of the Health Care Overhaul, Congress tacked on several provisions related to Student Loan guarantees in the US, as well. Yeah, I didn't read much about it, until I was alerted.
The US Government is now going to oversee all student loan activities in this country. No word on the number of bankers that will now be out of a job, as a result. Arne Duncan, Secretary of Education, has indicated that the government will now take an active role in who qualifies for a student loan. More importantly, if colleges and universities are deemed "unfit" by the Department of Education, their students will be ineligible for a student loan. (See any prospects for political chicanery here?)
Ironically, this same week, it was revealed that the former head of the Chicago public school systems, kept a list and made calls on behalf of politically connected parents so that their children might get into the best schools in the Chicago system.
You may recall that last year, multiple administrators and trustees from the University of Illinois were dismissed for engaging in the same type of activity.
So what's happening to the CPS administrator that was engaging in the same type of "clout" activity? Well he's been promoted!
Today he's the US Secretary of Education. That's right, it's the same Arne Duncan that wants to decide who can get a college loan and which colleges are "fit"!!

I've just gotten confirmation of a FANTASTIC speaker for the Effingham Tea Party. However, until I get permission from organizer Brian Millville and the speaker, I can't reveal the name. But, I'm truly excited by the presenter.

if you look closely to the word "erloeser", it has 2 dots above the "o". but we use the "oe" instead. best wishes. peter

I think it is good that We have a president who will understand and be able to use our technology. Too many of the more elderly political leaders, while they may be able to learn, don't grasp the power that is possible with technology and the new era of networking. Communication is everything.
