Whitney Houston.........Um....never mind.
In 2008, Indiana Democrats brought an action against the State of Indiana for requiring photo ids for voter registration. It was an OUTRAGE, claimed the Democrats. "Disenfranchisement!", they screamed.
It turned out that the plaintiff, in the case, (the one claiming Indiana's photo ID requirement was violating her civil rights), was, in fact, registered to vote in both Florida and Indiana! She was the poster child for WHY the voter law was important. Democrats quietly went away.
Strangely, I was reminded of the Indiana case following Whintey Houston's death on Saturday night.
Late Saturday night, Tony Bennett, paid tribute to Houston by proclaiming that her death was the result of drugs not being legalized. In fact, he doubled down by claiming that Houston and Michael Jackson would both be alive today, if we only legalized drugs in America.
He said, "I’d like to have every gentleman and lady in this room commit themselves to get our government to legalize drugs," he said. "So they have to get it from a doctor, not just some gangsters that sell it under the table."
Um, Mr. Bennett, Houston (via early reports) and Jackson died from an overdose of prescription drugs - the kind that are legal and prescribed by a doctor.
Just like the lady in Indiana, Houston and Jackson are now the poster children for why the legalization of cocaine and heroin is absolutely crazy, while Tony Bennet and the liberal Holllywood elite are the poster children for stupid.
